Kettlebell Korner.

YouTube is something I have taken very seriously since the beginning of this year and I've been having a lot of fun with it.

One of the things I am loving most about it is that it allows me to go into "coach" mode more.

Sure...at this point you can call me an "influencer" but I have always been and always will be a coach and a teacher.

I've taught thousands of group fitness classes and done thousands of private personal training sessions over the years...I teach things, that's what I do.

And that is what YouTube allows me to do more.

It's possible, but hard to teach someone how to do a single arm kettlebell swing, or windmill, or kettlebell clean in a 40 second Instagram Reel. I personally think I do a good job of it but it is still difficult.

It is much easier for me to teach and get into detail in a 3-5 minute YouTube video and I would have to assume it is easier to learn that way as well.

That is something I have enjoyed a lot about YouTube and why I really like this playlist that I have put together of Kettlebell Exercise Tutorials. All the exercises I constantly get asked about how to do and what to focus on when doing them.

YouTube allows me to go into detail and put them all in one spot for you! There's over 18 exercises in the playlist right now and it is only growing each week.

Check it out below. I'll bet there is at least one exercise in there you could use some help with.

And feel free to drop a comment on any of the videos letting me know what exercises you'd like to see broken down in the future.

Pushing Progress.

Becoming Obsessed...Good or Bad?

As of late I have been obsessed with content creation.

Making it, making it look and sound better, making it more digestible, learning about it, talking about it, teaching and helping others with it, learning other platforms etc.

Obsessed.

And well...I'm getting a lot fucking better...crazy concept.

But is obsession a good thing?

In society we tend to glorify the people who become obsessed...

The Kobe Bryants, Jeff Bezos, Michael Phelps of the world etc. We idolize them for the end product but usually don't see aallll the craziness that went on behind the scenes.

I'm sure all of those people are a little messed up in the head or had some downsides because of their obsession.

So was the obsession good or bad? Most people would say good because a bunch of gold medals, NBA championships and owning Amazon is a pretty damn good place to be.

But what was the cost?

I think obsession is a good thing but I also think it should be in waves...personally I don't believe you can be obsessed 24/7 because it's unsustainable (for most people).

But...if you really want to make progress you need these bouts of obsession.

Obsession with the gym for a couple years gives you the strength and body you want and feel confident in. And the flexibility to have a slice of pizza and a beer from time to time. But obsession over the gym 24/7 for years on end leads to body dysmorphia.

Obsession is a good thing and necessary to make drastic leaps in your fitness, business, sport etc. It's how you get ahead of people and separate yourself.

You don't get anywhere great by kind of sorta trying and caring.

But too much of it has it costs in my opinion as well...

And no...this isn't a "it's all about balance" thing because balance is bullshit...maybe zoomed out overall balance across years is there, and good. But balance all the time leads to no results.

You need periods of time that are unsustainable in the long term, sprints of obsession, to push ahead and separate yourself.

So...obsession is good, because you get a lot done. But don't let it take over.

I kind of rambled here and don't truly know if I got my point across...whatever my point was here. But this thought just popped in my head about this topic so I wanted to just word vomit it out to you and see if it sparked anything in you.

Client Shoutout

Today's client shoutout goes to a different kind of client.

As some of you know or have caught on to lately, I have been doing some more work in the "helping other people and businesses optimize their social media" space...and well, I have a few clients.

The biggest hurdle I am finding people struggle with is just starting and actually getting content out there.

Paralysis by analysis is the silent killer for most people in content creation. And it was something Dani struggled with...

But...she got over that fear, just started posting and then BAM look wtf happened. The above numbers are analytics from her posts on Facebook.

Hard to argue with 1.5 million plus views on TWO videos posted within about 10 days of each other.

I'm not saying you are going to get millions of views if you post. I'm not going to say you will go viral within a month of posting content. I'm not going to tell you that clients are going to come rolling in after posting content for 6 weeks.

But I am going to tell you this for certain...NONE of those things are going to happen with you sitting on your ass not posting anything...

Be like Dani...and get to posting more often.

Business Nugget.

Something I don't think many business owners are doing enough of is taking inventory of themselves as consumers, and learning from it to benefit their own business.

So what do I mean by that?

Well no matter who you are, how successful you are or how many businesses you own, you are still a consumer of something...many things.

You probably own an iPhone, buy things off Amazon, have a car, you consume content for fun etc.

Have you ever stepped back and taken a look as to why you went the specific direction you did?

Why did you get a Toyota instead of a Chevy?

Why did you watch 9 videos in a row from this one creator on YouTube?

Why did you sign up for this person's program and not the other guy's?

You get the idea here...

The fact of the matter is YOU are a consumer in so many ways and you can use yourself as "market research" for your own business.

Maybe a specific sale got you hooked in to a Toyota, learn from that.

There's just something about this one YouTuber that makes you watch all their videos, learn from that! It's not random.

Maybe it was a specific marketing campaign that got you in to this kettlebell program, learn from that.

Yes, you learn from your mistakes and your own journey IN your business. You look at spreadsheets and numbers and funnels as to which sales did well, which ad campaigns didn't do well..

Just syaing...it can't hurt to look inward and see what other business are doing on you as the consumer and why they worked on you.

Just a thought.
