Jack of All Trades?

One of the things that people like to use as an insult for kettlebells is that they are a "Jack of all Trades, Master of None". How there are better pieces of equipment to use for different jobs, which makes the kettlebell inferior.

Which I find ironic because...that is exactly what makes the kettlebell such an amazing piece of equipment - and why I think so many people should be using them.

Now...it is very dependent on your goal and what you are looking for out of your fitness, of course. If you want to be the strongest person in the world, or have Olympic level cardio then yes, in those scenarios the kettlebell is inferior.

But you're most likely not looking for results like that...you want to be well rounded and be able to do a little bit of everything.

You want to have muscle, strength, mobility, cardio, athleticism, functionality etc. You want to be decent at all of those things, and you're ok with none of them being world class level in order to do so.

Aka...you want to be a Jack of All Trades (sound familiar?).

And for 95% of people that is the better way to go about their fitness so they can look good, feel good and have a high quality of life.

So...if you want to be a Jack of all Trades...wouldn't using the Jack of All Trades piece of equipment be a pretty good idea??

Just a thought...👀

Protein Intake Made Easier

I've been talking more about protein intake and muscle growth lately in some videos, and with that, a new approach has come up.

My usual recommendations for protein intake is .8-1.0g of protein per pound of bodyweight you weigh, per day.

I weigh 180lbs, so that is 145-180 grams of protein each day. That is a very hard number to hit.

And for many people, hitting their bodyweight in protein per day is inconceivable, especially if they have never really tracked or cared much about their protein intake.

If a guy weighs 165lbs and has never cared about protein in take a day in his life, imagine telling him he has to go from eating 40 grams a day to 165 grams...that is a huge increase and probably something that is not realistic for him.

Mentally that is a huge hurdle to get over and new task to take on. Almost guaranteed to not be successful.

If you are very serious about packing on strength and muscle then yes, you realistically should be close to that .8-1.0g number on a daily basis.

But if you are just getting started on your "caring about protein intake" journey then I want you to take a different route. All I want you to do is focus on getting in 30g of protein at each meal. Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner. A good sized piece of chicken, beef or fish should do the trick.

This is your first step, a much more manageable number and goal to hit to get you started. And when you feel you are getting the hang of it, then maybe you can explore increasing to the ideal numbers.

Small Wins First.

Client Shoutout

Last week I shared with you that Project Bellplex turned 2 years old.

So for this client shoutout I want to shout out, TWO very specific clients.

Neil G. & Alli M.

These 2 were literally the first 2 members on Project Bellplex and they are still on it to this day going strong. They have seen amazing results, they are very active members in the community, they are very helpful in answering questions for new people and just all around amazing to have on the program.

First 2 members. Still going strong 2 years later. Amazing.

Thank you Neil and Alli for being so supportive and showing people what is possible on Project Bellplex, it means everything to me!

Goal Setting To The Now

Some of you may have seen this picture before from me before. If you haven't, I highly suggest taking a look and if you have, it might be a good time to revisit.

I've read a lot of books, listened to hundred of podcasts, I've written down and highlighted probably thousands of things from what I call my "mental masturbation" phase in life lol. But this, this Goal Setting To The Now is the ONE thing that still to this day hangs up on my wall right next to my desk.

For someone like me, who gets very distracted doing unnecessary things, it is a fantastic North Star to keep me on track and make sure the things I am doing right now, are in line with my goals.

In addition to that, it helps you take your enormous life goals, and carve them down into bite sized pieces that you can work on in this moment.

And this concept works whether it is a business, fitness or any other goal.

I actually changed my "Someday Goal" recently so my whiteboard got redone, and it made me think this would be a good time to re-share this with you all.
