Kettlebell Korner.
We are back again with our Men Over Fitness 40 Do's & Don'ts/Stops!
DO - Give a shit about your mobility/warmup. I mean this isn't a surprise is it? You know you should. You probably even read this first sentence and said "ugh he's right, I know" to yourself. I'm not telling you to become a full time yogi here, but 7-10 minutes of actually caring about your warmup instead of lazily laying on a foam roller while you play on your phone will go a long way. And the lack of it is going to catch up to you. A little more focus on your warmup, more standing up from your desk throughout the day and more emphasis on your hips and lower back. If you do those 3 things on a daily basis I'm sure you will start to notice a difference in how you feel throughout the day and in your workouts. This isn't rocket science, it's just a matter of actually doing it. Need a quick idea? Accumulate as much time in the bottom of a squat throughout the entire day as you can. 2 minutes? 5? 10? More?? Whatever you can.
STOP - Treating every workout like it is game 7 of the World Series. Look I get it, you want to get after it and go hard as hell...it's fun. I want to do the same, but the fact is that probably isn't in the cards anymore. And I'm not here to tell you that you can't do that and it's impossible. Realistically it is possible, but so many things have to be aligned in order to do so. Your nutrition has to be on point, recovery dialed in, dedicated mobility and stretching times need to be there etc. If you have the ability to do that then go for it! But you probably don't...You have a job/business, kids and many other things that take up your time and mental capacity, and that's ok. It just means you don't need to be smashing yourself in every workout 5x a week because it will probably catch up to you in the form of aches and pains or an injury. This doesn't mean don't workout hard and don't have days where you really get after it, it just means you should be a little more mindful about how often and when you push harder on the gas pedal.

Pushing Progress.
Ok, it is that time of year again...
It's officially getting hot and you need to take your hydration a little more seriously.
Water just isn't enough and there is no arguing this one, I'm sorry.
If you're sweating and getting after it in your workouts, especially my outside kettlebellers, you need to be replenishing with electrolytes.
If spring/summer rolls around and for some reason you start to feel a little more sluggish, that's why. You're losing so much with the extra sweat and only drinking water isn't doing it.
Electrolytes are by far my favorite supplement and if you are not taking them then I think you are missing out big time on some recovery.
So get some, and take them daily first thing in the morning.
I do have to put a caveat on here...if you are someone working out 2-3x a week for 30ish minutes and not really sweating, you probably don't need an electrolyte supplement. This is for the people with 150+ minutes of tough working out a week and sweating.

Client Shoutout
Ooohhh yea this one got me excited!
This client shoutout goes to Brian! Brian has been on Bellplex for about 4-5 months now. As you can see things are going very well and he is answering one of the biggest questions people have and that is...
Am I going to lose strength in my main lifts (squat, bench, deadlift)?
Well as you can see from Brian here the answer is no, and in many cases they will get even stronger! Now this is very person dependent, I know that, but I have seen this happen time and time again.
Someone has weak and neglected areas from traditional lifting and then they use bells for a few months and certain lifts go up that they originally thought would go down. It's the "What The Hell" effect of kettlebells.
Something to keep in mind for those that are hesitant to start using bells because they think their main lift numbers are going to plummet.
Great job Brian, way to set the example and show the people the power of the bells!

"I'll Start On Monday"
You know that one friend or family member that is the "I'll start on Monday" person?
I'm sure you have someone that comes to mind right away...the person who is always going to start that thing...they're just waiting for the perfect time.
Whether its a workout routine, diet, starting a business, creating content...anything. They never seem to be ready to start the thing right then and there.
Well guess what...I was guilty of this to just recently, so this is advice and a pep talk to myself in a sense.
I just signed up for a YouTube Creators course, basically a course on how to get better at YouTube. I was going to wait until July though because I am getting back from an Italy trip at the end of June. It was going to be the perfect timing. Come back motivated and refreshed, my schedule is opening up more then...it was perfect.
And then I told my coaches and they said "what's stopping you from doing it right now" - I gave my nonsense excuses and they told me to imagine how much I am going to learn from starting now up until I leave for Italy, and how much knowledge I was leaving on the table by not starting now. And how much progress I would be leaving on the table by not starting now.
So I signed up immediately after that conversation and now I am already a few days into the course and learning stuff! Progress is being made now instead of waiting 6 more weeks for the "perfect time"
Moral of the story...if you are thinking of starting something, you're just procrastinating by waiting "until Monday" (or whatever the proverbial Monday is for your scenario). Start then and now while the interest and desire is at it's peak.
Because chances are if you don't, you'll never start. Just like that one friend or family member...
