This one is for all my busy and tired parents out there...As I've grown older there is a phrase I have learned to hate. "We all have the same 24 hours in a day" No...we do not lol At all. You hear this a lot from young fitness influencers that live at home, have no bills, no family and no mortgage when trying to explain to people that they "just need to prioritize their fitness more" Honestly I probably said this at some point back in the day... And I'd love to go smack younger me in the face for saying it. Sure...we all have 24 hours in a day. But they are not created equally. The dad working 10 hour shifts every day to put food on the table... Or the single mom working 2 jobs to keep a roof over her head... Does NOT have the same 24 hours in a day as the young fitness influencer. Or hell...even the same 24 hours as I do! I work from home most of the time. I have no kids (yet). And doing a workout in many cases can be considered work for me. I'm very fortunate. So please don't compare yourself to me or Joe Shmo influencer 123 or anyone else for that matter who isn't in a similar situation as you. There are people in Project Bellplex that explain their schedules of long shifts and multiple kids and I wonder how they manage to muster up the energy to get workouts in at all! Let alone 4x a week. Those are the real badasses. The real people to look up to. And the ones I want to emulate when my son is here. Because those are the people who truly maximize their 24 hours. That is all for today. Chat Soon, PD P.S. This isn't me justifying your excuses. This doesn't mean "I'm busy and tired so I'm never going to workout" is ok. This means "I'm busy and tired so maybe my workouts look different for a period of time" - HUGE difference between the 2. |

Letters From The Garage The other day someone asked me what my biggest worry is about becoming a dad. And as someone who is about to have a son... This was an easy one. See... I actually wanted a girl first, if I'm being honest. Being a girl dad sounds awesome. And while nothing seems scarier than a teenage daughter as a dad... It didn't worry me as much as having a son. Because I believe there is way more pressure as a dad when having a son. I like to think I'm a good man. I'm hardworking,...
The other day I was looking in the mirror and saw my first really prominent gray hairs. (I'll be 33 soon for reference) Honestly I was almost excited and thought it was funny. I don't think aging aesthetically is that big of a deal. Gray hairs & some extra wrinkles... Would I rather they not happen? Sure. But I'm not afraid of them and I don't think I'll be the guy trying to hold on to my youth with remedies like dying my hair or hair transplants etc. Aging aesthetically is not something I'm...
I’ve taught well over 10,000 group fitness classes in my career. So according to some law of mastery…that would make me a...master? Now I fancy myself a humble man… but if there is one thing I know I’ve gotten real damn good at over the years… It is teaching group fitness. And not just hype man spin classes type of group fitness where all the instructor does is cheerlead & yell… But actual group coaching. Where you are teaching people how to do exercises, coaching them through progressions,...
